Exactly 135 days following the previous coach's first press conference as Rangers manager, successor Danny Rohl met with the media at Ibrox for the initial occasion.

The scale of the challenge facing him is widely recognized, given Martin's turbulent and unsuccessful four-month tenure.

The ex- Sheffield Wednesday manager was accompanied by club chairman the chairman, along with the frequently questioned duo of sporting director Kevin Thelwell and chief executive Patrick Stewart.

However, what precisely did we learn from the young coach's first public appearance as the club's manager?

Rohl's Primary Focus - Victory Comes First

A single message emerged clearly from the new coach's initial presentation before the local press - he understands the necessity to win matches, and do so rapidly.

His predecessor Russell Martin lasted only 17 matches and four months as manager, so the question emerged about how long Rohl thinks is realistic to turn around the underperforming team.

Although deftly avoiding a direct answer that might create later expectations, Rohl's communication was quite clear.

"With hope very quickly," he stated. "That is crucial.
"In football you have not much opportunity. You can discuss future plans but we know it's about immediate results and the short-term involves winning games. That is my requirement.
"Another aspect is also obvious - I require all players to comprehend how we want to play. I come back to my primary message: victory comes first, it's attractive and unity. By following this order, I'm convinced that I'll stay very long at the club."

Pressure is Normal

The previous manager needed security protection to leave the Falkirk Stadium after his last match as manager.

We've seen how hostile environments can turn at sports teams when performances are poor. Protests have nearly become a regular part of the matchday atmosphere on each part of the city these days.

As the club's most youthful ever head coach, the question asked about what qualities the coach thinks he possesses that would allow him to handle, never mind excel, in one of the highest-pressure positions in UK soccer?

"I think expectations in football are standard," he commented. "One needs to understand that very quickly.
"I think certain individuals could reference my youth but I'm a decade and a half on this path. I had a great opportunity to work with Bayern Munich and serve as just the assistant coach, but I experienced what it means to manage a team and the demands you face.
"When you start getting results and then certain people claim you need to play attractive football. That becomes the stage but precisely what I want. I relish those expectations and I look forward for what's ahead."

The Sporting Director Explains Chermiti Signing & Appointing His Son

Kevin Thelwell media conference

The media pack had plenty of questions from journalists for Thelwell.

Much discussion has concerned the appointment of his son as recruitment chief, with supporters skeptical about his qualifications for the position.

Nevertheless, he defended and explained the decision to recruit his son to Ibrox.

"It's always uncomfortable to hear and in appearance I think everyone understood when we took this decision to appoint him that he would be viewed negatively," Thelwell stated.
"The truth of the situation is that we want to bring the very best players here.
"My view on Robbie's career and situation is he required no family help in football.
"He's worked at Villa as head scout, he then joined Norwich City as head of scouting and then was elevated to development role.
"Prior to our hiring him, two Premier League clubs sought to acquire him. What we did from the beginning of the process was consult with Patrick, Andrew and vice-chairman Marathe about this matter.
"I was highly open and I think he likely underwent a stricter process than anybody else employee by the team.
"What I do know is that he'll labor 25/8 to be successful for this football club and I'm looking forward seeing him demonstrating that he's going to be an excellent employee for Rangers."

Additionally, Thelwell defended the acquisition of forward Chermiti, who arrived at the club for an alleged initial fee of £8m, having failed to find the net in 24 games for Everton.

The sporting director who transferred the Portuguese youth international to Merseyside from Sporting - again for significant money in a £15m deal.

He was asked if he stands by his multi-million pound signing, who is yet to score in seven matches for Rangers.

"Yes, completely," Thelwell answered. "I believe Youssef Chermiti is a player who's possesses great ability.
"I've never questioned him in any way. Again, I think Danny will help to maximize the potential out of the player.
"It's very initial stages for him, he's a young talent and naturally with young talents they sometimes take time.
"But I'm certain over the course of his career here he's going to prove that he's a very, very good footballer."

Stewart Understands Supporters' Frustration and Hurt

The chief executive was in the media firing line, given the vitriol that has been directed his way by certain of the club's fans.

Additionally, there was a sign in the Sandy Jardine stand during the last tie with Dundee United inviting Stewart - and the sporting director - to depart before being removed for them.

Similar to the football director, Stewart didn't avoid the issue.

"I totally appreciate the frustration and anger that fans are experiencing because results recently haven't been good enough and no one is happy with those," he said.
"The hurt and disappointment they feel is matched inside the leadership.
"Recognize that there has to be an outlet for that dissatisfaction and as chief executive, that's me.
"I'm a focal point for those and my role as a
